Background

Global challenges like climate change and geopolitical conflicts are shifting the world order. The 2030 Agenda, a key tool for a holistic response, faces difficulties. The rise of anti-democratic and hate discourses poses an "ethical disaster", threatening core EU values of cultural diversity and democracy. Universities, as hubs of research and education, are crucial for training professionals to foster inclusive, democratic societies and combat discrimination.

Aims

The EME 4 EU project seeks to transform European Higher Education by empowering institutions to implement high-quality English Medium Education programs. It aims to enhance universities’ capacities, improve legislative frameworks, and foster collaboration among institutions, creating a globally competitive and inclusive education system. By addressing challenges like language barriers and resource gaps, the project promotes accessibility, innovation, and labor market alignment.

The specific objectives EME 4 EU would like to achieve are:

• Identifying policies and practices for implementing EME across Europe.
• Raising awareness among decision-makers, teachers, and students about the importance of EME in internationalizing European universities.
• Equipping university lecturers and policy makers with the skills to implement and leverage the potential of EME.

Target Groups

The project is addressed to:

• University lecturers teaching in English Medium Education (EME) stand to gain from innovative teaching methods and a repository of good practices, enhancing their capacity to deliver quality education.
• University lecturers outside EME programs ensures a broader perspective, enriching the project with diverse viewpoints.
• Students in or interested in EME programs can provide feedback on their learning experiences, expectations, and needs, contributing to program improvement.
• Decision makers in HEIs can benefit from the project’s research-based recommendations, including guidelines offering data and analysis.
